President meets the head of Kokyo Tatemono and Professor from OIST

Discussions at the meeting focused on expanding the pilot project to harness electricity from surf waves jointly carried out by Kokyo, OIST and the Maldives’ Ministry of Environment. The innovative technology is currently being tested in Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives. 

During the meeting, Professor Tsumoru extended an invitation for Maldivian postgraduate students to undertake higher education and doctorate students to assume research at OIST. Speaking in this regard, President Solih highlighted the importance of exposure and experience for Maldivians in research on renewable energy technologies and thanked Professor Shintake and OIST for the offer. 

He further assured the administration’s continued support for the pilot project in Kandooma and noted the practicality and significance of sustainable and renewable energy technological solutions for the Maldives.
